it's called a Cardoon! They make a lovely spectacle in the roundabout.

Happy Fourth of July!
We walked to Carrel and Garrett's on the lake. I should have remembered my little gorillapod! This is the only one that wasn't very blurry.

Urban Dwellers
After seeing the movie Wall E last Friday, I'm having a greater appreciation for the plants and their persistence! As I walked through the alley, I saw how they find places to grow...where no one has planted them. I know, we call those "weeds"...but I wonder, does God see weeds?
I've heard "bloom where you're planted", but how about: "Bloom wherever the wind takes you"? The plants don't complain about the cement, or the dumpsters, they just root and turn toward the sun. Like Ashlee's lesson from the plants on her balcony the other day.

Love did see us through
This song made me cry again today...I know it's sappy and 90's, but when I was far away from the kids when they were little, and had to trust that somehow, they'd still know I loved them, it gave me strength. We all grew up and we are all ok! Love is always seeing me though...but do I see it? Help me see it today..."Love is the recognition of that which is Real in each and everything" (Raj)
Marni jellies
I really just wanted to share the pretty color and design of these shoes, though I needed to return them because they weren'ta good fit. No half-sizes! Maybe the photo is all that's needed...and the green looks so great against the gray page, too.
