Drinking

I wondered about the wine she mentions in the book...and voila, there it was in front of me when I looked up in the store! It's funny that all the characters that make it and import it are in the story of Chez Panisse. It was incredibly delicious...and no hangover!

Reading

I haven't finished it all yet, but it's more than a restaurant bio...food choices have their consequences, personally and globally!

Make something beautiful

Yesterday in the car we listened to this new album that Chris had downloaded...that he discovered from downloading this new application for the iPhone that Luke turned him onto. That lead to me imdb-ing David Byrne where I discovered that he was married for a long time to Adelle Lutz, sister to the lovely and stylish Tina Chow. I had been aware that Tina died of AIDS in 1992, but not that she had contracted it after a one night stand with a bisexual frenchman when she was seperated from her husband. She is wearing jewelry she designed. It reminded me of the best advice I heard recently on how to deal with the "world crisis"..."Make something beautiful" (and share it). I have found myself cooking new things, wearing old things in new ways, letting the creative (rather than reactive) juices flow. Even cleaning something with an open mind can be a moment for revelation! I'm grateful for these books and for the information that comes to me about women who persist in creating around them the beauty that they are witness to.

The sunset

shadows are now on the other wall as the sun goes South. I know, I take photos of the same thing over and over but I can't help it because they look so beautiful...and it's a new moment! :)

Check out

this Danish "mini-van"...and it's evolution here. They have a store in Berlin! Now that would be a way to take the kinders around town for field trips, Ashlee!

Will Leanne win?

Here's a great blog post about Leanne on Project Runway...will she win tonight?

It's funny

where the internet takes you. How about this sweater from Jasmin Zorlu Millinery? Which I discovered by reading the comments on this blog post from this site about an architect that I had read about in Dwell.
